Spiritual Firehose

Hello!

This week was SO good!

On Tuesday we had a Mission Leadership Council (MLC) with Elder Rasband, Elder Gong, and Elder Bennett. It was amazing. We were all able to shake their hands and introduce ourselves. And then throughout the meeting I felt like I was drinking out of a spiritual fire hose. I learned so much and so many of my questions were answered. I feel so blessed to have a modern prophet and apostles on the earth today. These men are truly inspired. One of my favorite things that Elder Rasband told us was that The more you KNOW Him, the more you will LOVE Him and the more you will SERVE Him. How powerful is that? I love that all these things fall into place once we take the time to get to know our Savior. One might ask, how do we get to know our savior? Well, Elder Rasband gave us one way that we can know Him. He promised us that if we study the sub heading of Jesus Christ in the topical guide (all 57 of them) then we will know our savior. That was a promise from an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am really excited to start studying and getting to know my Savior better!

After the Meeting we went with our district to get our Flu Shots for the year. We decided that we needed to make it a fun experience because none of really wanted to get them. So we all got emoji bandaids to make it a little bit more enjoyable. It was actually a ton of fun. So note to self: always go in groups to get shots haha. It was also Elder Eaton's 19th birthday so we celebrated with cupcakes!

On Wednesday we went on exchanges and I went to Marlborough with Sister Pegram in the Portuguese program! Haha so that was interesting. We took a member with us and she only spoke Portuguese and I was so lost. It was so funny! But we had a good day! It was fun to spend time with Sister Pegram! She is from texas and played volleyball. In fact, she came up to Spokane for the PNQ one year- so we were at the same place! It's always fun making connections like that on the mission.

On Friday we drove a sister to the airport really early. As sad as it was to say goodbye to this sister, the sunrise over the Boston Skyline was amazing. We also had Zone Meeting and Sister Demuth and I gave a training on the KNOW, LOVE, SERVE Him thing that we learned and how we can better apply it to missionary work.

On Saturday Sister Demuth and I drove out to Peterborough, NH. Haha it is out in the middle of nowhere. The ward out there was having a ward activity at this old town hall movie theatre. So we set up our Book of Mormon display as well as our Jesus Christ one. We got permission from our mission president to watch the faith based movie that they were playing. It was called, Miracles from Heaven. It was SO sad, but still inspiring. We were crying the whole time.

This week was kind of crazy and this week will be equally crazy. We are heading down to CT for the open house this friday and will be there until Oct 22. It will definitely be a fun and new experience and we are really looking forward to it! Thank you all for your love and support! I love you all and I am so thankful for all you do!

Love ya!

A Lot of Miracles

Hello Everyone!

This week was really good! We had a lot a lot of fun and saw a lot of miracles!

I think one of the highlights for me this week was Thursday. We picked up a new investigator named DeeDee. She is amazing! We have been trying to meet with her for a couple weeks and we were finally able to set up a time. So we went by and everything just felt natural. She has so much faith already and she is truly searching. She was in an accident a while ago and she feels like she was given a second chance when she was able to heal fully. We were able to share scriptures from the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon that confirmed her faith and she is really interested in the fact that we have a modern prophet on the earth. We talked about how she can know all this is true through sincere prayer and study. She is excited to continue to meet with us. It was awesome! Sister Demuth did a great job at relating to her and getting on her level to help her understand the Restoration. I have such a wonderful companion!

On Friday we had our District Meeting and that went well. Sister Demuth and I gave the training and we talked about our purpose as missionaries. We discussed different people in the Book of Mormon that truly fulfilled their missionary purpose, like Abinadi and Ammon. Both of them were so different and unique in the way they taught. We too, have been called to find our friends and touch people that only we can touch. We all have a unique mission that is individual to each of us. But our purpose is the same. "To invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end." Over the last month I have had different confirmation feelings that I am where I am supposed to be. I cannot imagine serving my mission anywhere else. I absolutely love it here.

Later that night we went to Norma's house (the one that was baptized in Walden Pond a couple weeks ago). She made us pupusas! So yummy! Definitely a good part of our day haha.

On Saturday we had a chapel tour in New Haven, CT. The chapel is really cool! It is right next to Yale University! So we got to go contacting on campus and look around a bit. It was a beautiful campus! The first person we contacted was very willing to come and take a tour of the chapel! It was awesome!

On Sunday we went into Boston and then we drove down to Avon, CT for a training meeting for the Temple Open House. There are 4 sets of Sisters that will be coming up from the New York NY North Mission, so we got to meet them! And we were given further instructions on what we will be doing while we are working at the temple open house. It sounds like it is going to be a busy few weeks, but it will so much fun! What a unique calling. I feel so blessed to be able to play a small part in this event.

Today for Pday we had an Arizona Snowball Fight.... SO MUCH FUN! We cut up tights and then put flour in them and then threw them at each other. In my opinion this was way more fun than an actually snowball fight haha.

Well, that's all folks! We are doing well! We have a big week ahead of us, but it is going to be great! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Love you all!

Love, Sister Egan

Another Busy Week in Weston

Hello Everyone!

Another busy week in Weston!

On Tuesday we went to the airport and picked up the new missionaries! We welcomed 23 new missionaries into the Massachusetts Boston Mission! So fun! We brought them back to the Miller's house and we all had dinner and they got a lot of training! It was great to meet them all! They all seem like great missionaries!

On Wednesday we brought the new missionaries into Boston to go street contacting! We took one group to Harvard Square, which was a perfect way to break em in! The first thing they noticed was the traffic.... it was terrible that day! They said that the drivers are crazy... which is true. I've gotten so used to it now... I think I am becoming a Boston driver. Which probably isn't the best thing haha. That day they got their trainers and we got to see a lot of missionaries! I got to see Sister Ross because she is training! I am so proud of her! This was the first time I have seen her in 3 months- so it was great to see one of my previous companions!

Thursday was crazy! I don't really have time to go into details, but long story short, we ended up having to take the departing missionaries to the temple for an endowment session. Sister Demuth and I were able to participate in sealings and then we were able to do a lot of initiatories. It was really cool. I love being in the temple!

On Friday we had our first district meeting with our new district. We have 2 "greenies" in our district and it is so fun! We had a great DM and learned a lot from each other!

On Saturday we went to a baptism in Bloomfield, CT and then stayed in CT the rest of the day to set up for a chapel tour in Ellington. It was a long day, but it turned out to be really good. I am loving the PVC and being able to travel the mission. It is a really special calling.

On Sunday after church we had interviews with President Miller. I am really thankful for his inspiration and leadership in the mission. Yesterday we were able to reflect on the last year and how far each of us have come. I am very thankful to be in this mission. This week I thought a lot about that, how I am where I need to be. There is a reason I was called to the MBM. I cannot imagine serving my mission anywhere else. To me, it is a testimony that God knows us personally. He knows what we need and when we need it.

I love this gospel. I am loving my mission! Great things are happening here in New England and I feel so blessed to be a part of it!

I love you all! Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Egan
