Hello Everyone!
Wow this week was amazing! Heavenly Father is truly blessing us!
On Tuesday, Sister Holt came to Glastonbury on exchanges and we had way too much fun! In the morning we went and helped this woman scrub her kitchen. To put this in perspective- she told us she hadn't cleaned it since 2009. I repeat, 2009! It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it was still pretty gross haha. That afternoon we met with our Recent Convert and that went really well, and then we had a a lesson with our investigator, Veronica. We have been trying to help her gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon, so we read 1 Nephi 3 with her. We talked about how the God will always provide a way. And we committed her to read chapter 4. That night we met with some other less actives in the ward, and it was really good. I learned a lot from Sister Holt- I love her!
On Wednesday, we decided to walk to our appointments. We definitely saw the blessings that came from walking. We met some great people who were out in their yards that day. After our lunch appointment we walked to our next appointment and then we walked home. We were blessed to be able to pick up 2 new investigators! It was a beautiful day out and we just felt so blessed!
On Thursday we wanted to have a "car fast" and just walk all day. So we walked to service and had a good time raking leaves for Bill and Joyce. Then came home and planned.... Well, we ended up breaking our car fast so we could drive to a last minute appointment with our recent convert. It was really good and I'm glad we went to see her- I think she needed it!
Friday was great! We went to District Meeting and Sister Ross and I gave the training. Haha that didn't go as well as we had planned, but that's okay! After Lunch we didn't have anything planned. Everything cancelled and we didn't know what to do! So we stopped by a former investigator and there were a couple of less active members that lived pretty close so we decided to park the car and walk. We met more amazing people. One guy talked to us and he completely opened up to us and told us about his near death experience and how he was able to come back in touch with his faith. He was so thankful for the Book of Mormon we gave him! We are working on setting up a time that we can go teach him! We were out and about and then our dinner appointment cancelled. We didn't have enough miles to run home, so we just decided to go out. So we parked outside taco bell (gross, I know) and then we looked over and our recent convert was just getting out of her car with her kids, about to walk into Pizza Hut. So we went and said Hi! They were so happy to see us and they invited us to have dinner with them. I love this family! They make me so happy!
On Saturday we went to Farmington (part of my previous area in Avon) and we did a service project! It was so much fun! And I got to see a lot of people from the Avon Ward! We had a good day and after the service project we met with our Less Active from Ghana- we are working really hard to get her back to church. Then we had a dinner appointment.... Long story short- they tried to feed me a chocolate pudding cup that expired in April 2011. I didn't notice the expiration date until after I took a huge bite. SO GROSS.
Sunday was awesome! We were standing outside the chapel greeting people and this Less Active woman (who isn't on our records) walks in with her 2 kids and tells us that her kids aren't member and that she wants us to teach them!!! AHHH!! Of course!
So this week we were so blessed! I know that Heavenly Father is looking out for all of us! He wants us to be happy! Weeks like these make all the hard times worth it. I am lovin it our here in New England. People are prepared!
I hope you all have a great week!
Love, Sister Egan
